The Podcast #2
The podcast is a very popular means by which to communicate and I use them regularly for the wines I review.
Here are a few to which you might like to listen…
Landskroon Cinsaut 2019
Made from a grape which was heavily planted in the late 1800s after the phylloxera devastated the Cape Vineyards. Paul de Villiers V, the 5th generation Cellarmaster of the De Villiers Family at Landskroon, practices ‘saignée’ which bleeds off some of the juice before fermentation to give the wine greater colour and flavour and complexity.

Made from a blend of Portuguese Port varieties, this wine is a cracker and very much the flagship of the Landskroon Range. It won for Paul de Villiers V The Diners Club Winemaker of the Year Award.

First made by Frans Malan, owner of Simonsig Wine Estate, in 1971, the Kaapse Vonkel made in the style of Champagne celebrates its 50th birthday this year. So too, does The Stellenbosch Wine Route, founded by Frans with Neil Joubert of Spier and Spatz Sperling of Delheim in 1971 and today a huge and successful business on its own.

De Wetshof Nature in Concert Pinot Noir 2017
A brilliant expression by Peter de Wet, the family winemaker. While the family is known as Chardonnay specialists, but they certainly produce cracking wines from other noble varieties.

Delaire Graff White Reserve 2018
A stunner of a blend in the style of a white Bordeaux. Made up of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. I just wish more wine drinkers would be brave and move out of their comfort zones and try this style, you will be much rewarded.
