This fun and delicious wine is made by one of Spier’s Award Winning Winemaker, Jacques Erasmus. The grapes were harvested in the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Breedekloof Wine Appellations. The vines varied in age from 14 to 18 years and are all organically grown.
The grapes were hand-harvested early in the morning, crushed and destemmed. Skin contact was allowed. for six hours to extract the beautiful colour from the red grapes in the blend. Cool fermentation took place in stainless-steel tanks under controlled temperatures. Once fermented, the wine was blended and was bottled in under 5 Bar pressure with Carbon Dioxide [like sparkling mineral water] to create a smooth, elegant bubble in your glass.
From a bespoke clear glass bottle closed with the traditional Champagne natural cork and the little wire muzzle to keep the cork in place. The livery is tasteful and fun. In the glass it is a rich tomato pink with hundreds of tiny bubbles rushing to the surface where they for a little crown. The aromas are of fresh red berry fruits and an undertow of muscat. The palate is rich and generous, honeyed and berried, and has a lovely golden thread of raspberry acidity running through to the long aftertaste. Fun glass to drink.
