Morning mists at Mulderbosch Vineyards
Set in the beautiful Polkadraai Hills Mulderbosch Vineyards is a destination on its own. This year Mulderbosch celebrates its 28th birthday, and I have been an unflinching fan from the time the first wines hit the market. A short run from Cape Town, the family friendly tasting room at Mulderbosch has an outside wooden deck which is lined with comfy cushioned seating, beanbags for the lawn, and landscaped areas where you can relax and eat while taking advantage of the views of the vineyards and rolling hills.

Your main reason for going there of course is to taste the wines of Mulderbosch, Terroir’s Fable Mountain Vineyards and Yardstick Wines. Three stand-alone ranges, though I must admit to a little love affair with the Yardstick Pinot Noir 2014 of late. The Mulderbosch Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé has been a huge hot from its inception.

There is comfortable seating on chairs and couches, and a big fireplace with roaring fires in winter. To complement the wines, they serve a selection of thin-based wood-fired pizzas, with a variety of delicious fresh toppings, from our outdoor pizza oven (available from 12h00 to 16h00). If you are a pizza fan, this is close to pizza heaven. You can also order charcuterie and cheese boards with fresh bread and Mulderbosch olive oil.
As they say in the Guide Michelin, well worth a detour.
