Rosé is becoming more and more popular as a wine for all times. No linger semi sweet anonymous blends, wine producers are moving in the direction of fine wine. And so, it is with Ken Forrester who has produced this utterly delicious single vineyard Grenache Noir from vines in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation in which the Ken Forrester Vineyards are situated in the shadow of The Helderberg Mountains a region producing some of the appellation’s finest wines.
Hand harvested and once in the Cellar, the grapes are gently pressed. The freshest of free run juice is taken to fermentation which is followed by 9 months of maturation on its lees in a stainless tank. The wine is then prepared for bottling.
From a beautiful clear glass bespoke bottle, closed with a classy glass stopper. The label is, appropriately, a cut our Silver Rose in Silver Grey. In the glass the wine is a soft, shell pink, brightshining. The aromas and flavours segue one into the other. Lovely, sweet berries, fraises des bois, and country lane fruits like brambles and mulberries. Undertow of pomegranate going into the mid palate and the long and very satisfying ending.
The Ken Forrester Vineyards The Silver Rose 2020 is a superb wine for mid-morning refreshment under a leaf covered pergola, or as a sundown sipper. Excellent as an aperitif which would take you into a meal, the first course of which is the perfect partner to the wine. Anina Meyer’s Spaghetti with a Creamy Pesto Pasta Sauce is a great partner.
