Durbanville Hills Collector’s Reserve, The Cape Garden Chenin Blanc 2021

Durbanvillle is one of the smallest Wine Appellations in the winelands. At the Western end it is a little valley which faces the Atlantic Ocean with its icy Benguela Current breezes off which ameliorate the Summer heat in the vineyards, allowing for a longer hang time before ripening – thus greater flavour.

Kobus Gerber is the white wine specialist at the cellar and is responsible for this wine and the other top seller, The Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc.

Chenin Blanc can really claim its spot as a true South African grape, having been planted here in the early days of the Dutch Refreshment Station and reputedly harvested in February 1659. Chenin Blanc is the most planted wine grape in South Africa and our vineyards are 6 times the size of its home in the Loire Valley in France.
