Vickie de Beer is a food writer, food stylist and food enthusiast. She is the Food Editor of the popular Rooi Rose. Vickie has a diabetic son, so she is an expert on low carb cooking. This book, My low carb Kitchen, I love the design by Wilna Combrinck by the way, is the result of Vickie’s years of experience as the mother of a diabetic. This does not mean that the food is not exciting, quite the opposite. Divided into Essentials, Breakfasts, On the Run, Quick Meals, Everyday Meals, High days & Holidays, Sides, Sauces and New Ingredients. Stunning photographs as always from Craig Fraser. Would make a great stocking stuffer for someone wanting some new low carb recipes.

Cooks, writers, chefs, farmers, TV stars, successful cook book authors, bakers and foragers have all made a contribution to The Great South African Cook Book. Photography by Toby Murphy, with the styling by the clever Jules Mercer. Libby Doyle and Helen Dehmer were responsible for the design. Such a lovely book and one I dip into often. I like that fact that Chefs are happy to give their secrets away, Chefs in whose restaurants I have had excellent meals. It’s just a wonderful collection of truly exciting recipes.
