Michiel du Toit, Winemaker at Landskroon Estate

I have known Michiel du Toit, an Award Winning Winemaker ,from a time before he joined Landskroon about 5 years ago. I was please to have him answer some questions about himself and Landskroon…

Please give us a brief overview of the 2020 harvest and what consumers can expect from Landskroon for the 2020 vintage.

Consumers can definitely look forward to an exceptional 2020 harvest. Larger than normal harvest but one of the best in terms of quality. Smaller berry size with good intensity and flavour concentration because of “dry land” like conditions.

What was the defining moment in your life that set you on the path of becoming a winemaker?

All the wine tasting tours during my studies at University of Stellenbosch. Wanted to study Dentistry before the wine making bug bit me. I guess it was destined for me also as my whole family comes from a background in agriculture.
