Yonder Hill Wine Estate is situated at Raithby, on the R44, that runs from Stellenbosch to Somerset West in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation. It is on the cusp of a hill which leads down to Somerset West.

Yonder Hill Winemaker Janette van Lill

The Yonder Hill Ella 2021 is an excellent example of a fine Helderberg Merlot. In its youth it is still fruit driven with an excellent brushing of oak by Winemaker Janette van Lill. Aromas are of red and black berry fruits, plums, and black cherries. These all segue onto the rich and generous palate with no interruption. The tannins are slightly grippy which one expects of a youthful Merlot. Lovely acidity line running through from entry to the long aftertaste. The wine has all the attributes required for cool cellar maturation for a couple of years. An impressive bottle.
