Spier Picnics are legendary. Seasonal and vegetarian options are available and like all the other food venues on the Estate, local, natural and organic products are used.
Book your picnic in advance online: we offer a seasonal and vegetarian option, made with local, natural and organic produce wherever possible. Your hamper is available to be collected at the Spier Farm Kitchen, to which you should be taking a shopping basket to stock up on a variety of produce from baked goods, products of the farm and Spier Wines.
You will need to bring your own chairs, cushions and blankets or hire from the Deli. Food or beverages unless purchased on the Estate are not allowed. The picnic spaces are public. The Estate caters for group bookings in semi-private areas if booked in advance.
Collection times for picnics are from 12:00 – 14:00.

PJ Vadas is the mastermind behind this unique and different venue which is situated in the Jonkerhuis on the Spier Werf. Seating is outside, on the Werf in good weather or in the all-weather terrace where ‘The Hog smokes and cooks the meats for anything up to 16 hours.
There is a fabulous array of baked goods, especially PJ’s signature Pasteis de Nata, better than many I have eaten in Portugal.
Chef PJ Vadas’s barbeque-focused lunch and dinner menu includes flavoursome grass-fed beef, pork, lamb and free-roaming chicken supplied by Spier’s Farmer Angus. Accompanied by tasty sides – such as roasted beetroot or cheese-drenched broccoli – the meats are perfectly paired with Spier Wines or The Hoghouse’s craft ales. Desserts include tarts and artisanal gelatos. In addition to fresh bread and pastries (which can also be pre-ordered 48 hours in advance), the Hoghouse shop stocks locally handmade homeware and tasty treats like jams and nougat to take home.
Wednesday – Saturday: 11.00 – 23.00 (lunch and dinner with kitchen closing at 21.00)
