My Advent Calendar Wine #5, Jordan Wines Cobbler’s Hill 2014, the perfect wine with which to tackle a Tomahawk Steak…

Jordan Wines Cobbler’s Hill 2014

Jordan Wine Estate is a family owned and managed estate in the Bottelary Hills in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation. Summer heat in the vineyards is ameliorated by cooling breezes off False Bay and on the Western side, the cold Benguela Current makes its presence felt.

Cabernet Sauvignon just harvested

The Jordan Wines Cobbler’s Hill 2014 is intentionally matured in ideal conditions in the Jordan Cellar before being released. The wine is made up of a blend of noble reds, 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc. Pair with a perfectly grilled Tomahawk Steak

Gary & Kathy Jordan

I was once in the cellar with Gary when a shipment of French Oak Barrels. I asked Gary about them, and he casually said, ‘these barrels were made from oaks that were growing in Napoleon’s lifetime.” Napoleon died in 1815 on St Helena Island whence he was exiled. He died there. He had a shipment of Cape Wine sent to him once a month.

Covered in awards, of the most meaningful kind.  93 points by Tim Atkin. 5 star nomination in the Platter Guide. Double Platinum from Neal Martin, ad Top 100 S A Wines winner.
