Middelvlei Rooster Rosé 2019 – a rosé by any other name could never taste as sweet [dry actually]…

Middelvlei Rooster Rosé 2019

Summer’s in full swing, which brings with it long lazy days. Sunset gatherings, socialising with friends at a braai or around the pool, or simply taking advantage of the glorious weather. Summer is also synonymous with chilled white or rosé wines, and this is where Middelvlei Rooster Rosé 2019 will help to make the most of this much-loved season.

Cinsaut on the vine, large loosely packed bunches

Made from 100% Cinsaut grapes, the fruit was sourced from only the best vineyards in the Western Cape. According to winemaker Tinnie Momberg the conditions for the optimum growth and ripening of the grapes from September through to December, were perfect. This has resulted in a superb dry wine with delicate Summer berry and watermelon flavours. Tinnie describes the wine as a pale salmon pink colour with a delicious fruity finish.

While lockdown is in place, I am sure you have a list of ‘things-to-do’. Put this on your list, you will not be disappointed.

The Middelvlei Rooster Rosé 2019 is available directly from the Tasting Room or select outlets nationwide at R95 per bottle.

The Momberg Family centred round Jan, the Patriarch

From a Burgundy shaped bottle and closed with a screw cap. The label classical elegant Middelvlei. In the glass, the wine is a charming pink with purple flashes. The aromas are of country fruits, roadside brambles, mulberries and blackcurrants off a hedgerow. The palate is generous full, without damning it with feint praise, this is a lip smacking easy drinking quaffer.

Nothing more traditional than braaibroodjies

The Middelvlei Rooster Rosé 2019 is to be served chilled as a great glass on its own, mid-morning refresher or to sip at sundown. The Mombergs of Middelvlei are a generous welcoming family and the well known Boerebraai on the farm should be on your list for things to do post isolation.
