Founded in 1928, Stellenrust boasts today with being one of the largest family owned wine estates in South Africa. It is in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation on the lower slopes of the Helderberg, a premium wine grape growing area. Carrying through generations of winemaking skills and the legacy of the Boshoff family motto ‘where excellence meets winemaking’ is present in every bottle.
The Estate produces fine wines, though I must confess the Chenins are amongst my favourites. I am also pleased that Merlot is making more and more of a comeback. An old Bordeaux variety, named after a ‘little blackbird’ in an old regional French dialect.
Stellenrust produces four ranges of wines, so there is lots from which to choose.
