Landskroon Unwooded Chardonnay 2021

Landskroon Wine Estate has been owned and managed by the De Villiers Family for 5 generations. Each Cellarmaster has been named Paul. The Estate is set on the Southwestern slopes of the beautiful Paarl Mountain with its great granite rock on top. Looking down South, Table Mountain is on the horizon. It was here that the three De Villiers brothers, Huguenots from La Rochelle in Atlantic France, landed on May 9th, 1689.

The Landskroon Unwooded Chardonnay 2021 grapes come from vines old enough to produce fine grapes which do not need the application of oak. Harvested in the early hours of the morning to retain the aromatics and fruit freshness, the grapes were taken to the cellar where Paul and his team destalked and pressed them. The resultant juice was allowed to cool settle overnight before being cool fermented until dry. The wine was then prepared for bottling.

Pour

From a vine leaf coloured, Burgundy shaped bottle, closed with a black screw cap. The label is one of the new design Landskroon livery. The aromas and palate segue one into the other. Lemon curd fruit with desiccated pineapple and crisp apple mingle with a fine line of acidity which runs through the long aftertaste. A fine sipping wine as an aperitif, perfect as a mid-morning refresher and perfect with food.
