The Glenelly Class Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Madame May Eliane de Lencquesaing, creator of the new Glenelly has a passion for glass as much as she has a passion for wine. The former owner of Chateau Pichon Lalande is Bordeaux Royalty and certainly highly regarded in Stellenbosch. As is her team of Winemaker Luke O’Cuinneagain and Heinrich Louw the Vineyardist and General Manager.
Christophe Dehosse, The Vine Bistro
The added bonus of a visit to Glenelly is The Vine Bistro, headed by Chef Christophe Dehosse, offers a French-inspired dining experience. Dishes are prepared to partner perfectly with the Estate’s wines. The Bistro is closed for a winter break from 22 May to 14 June.
The Glass Collection at Glenelly reflects Mme de Lencquesaing’s love for glass. Well worth visiting, the collection goes back to ancient Roman glass and a gathering of modern pieces.

The Glenelly Class Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is about the finest example of Cabernet as you will find. Stellenbosch prides itself in its Cabernet and this one is a jewel in the crown.
Good dry conditions during the early harvest and cooler conditions in March 2014 allowed for longer hang time on the vines while ripening. Fuller flavours and colours.
Cabernet Sauvignon on the vine
The grapes were hand harvested and brought to the cellar where they were destalked and crushed into stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, which occurred with natural vineyard yeasts, Luke ensured a mix of rack and return and pump overs. After post fermentation maceration for 2 – 3 weeks, the grapes were gently pressed. Malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrel. The wine was racked every four months during the 12-month maturation period and then prepared for bottling.

It looks like
Packed in a Bordeaux shaped bottle under screw cap. Elegant label featuring some of the glasses in the Glenelly Glass Collection. In the glass a deep opaque plum which pales out to the rim.
It smells like A generous nose with the classical Cabernet fruits, oak and its concomitant spices.
It tastes like
Brilliant. Blueberry. Blackcurrant. Cherry. Blueberry. Spices and oak in undertow. Beautifully interwoven tannins and acidity. Perfect harmony and length. Great glass
