Groot Post Wine Estate is situated up the West Coast in the Darling Wine Appellation. Darling is not the hot wheat dust, sheep farming region which we think it is. The Vineyards have the benefit of cooling breezes off the icy Bengula Current which runs up our West Coast. These breezes bring coolth to the vineyards and slow down the ripening process in the grapes meaning more flavour in the resulting wine.

And the resulting wines by Lukas Wentzel from Groote Post, are sublime. Apart from this magical Cap Classique, the Seasalter their utterly fabulous marine tinged Sauvignon Blanc, seen here with Nick Pentz of Groote Post.

I always encourage the use of a fine Cap Classique like this as one would approach wine, not only for celebration, but for normal very day drinking as an aperitif. or indeed as a wine with food.
