With spring just around the corner, Asara Wine Estate & Luxury Hotel’s kitchen garden consultant Susan Torrance has been back on the Estate, working with Asara Head Gardener Tommy Williams and his team team to give the garden a spring clean, make new plantings and apply the home-made compost that has made a big difference to the soil quality and garden produce.
Susan, a well known organic and sustainable Gardener, has written a book which you may well find perfect for helping you with your garden.
The Asara Kitchen Team, use the fresh vegetable, herbs and saladings in the Sansibar Bistro, Mise en Place [closed in Winter] and for the functions rooms.
A visit to Asara is a destination visit and as they say in the Michelin Guide, well worth a visit. From coffee and pastries at The Deli, a visit to the The Tasting Room to taste the Estate’s fine wines, a pre lunch drink at the Sansibar Gin Bar. The Sansibar Gin Bar, with over 500 gins on the shelf, has the largest selection of gins in the country. There is an excellent lunch menu at The Sansibar Bistro, anything from Pizzas to Springbok Shanks and Farmer Josh’s Free Range Chicken, all baked in their wood-fired oven. Mouthwatering desserts are great for a fine ending to your meal.
