Van Loveren Christiena Trousseau Cap Classique
Van Loveren Wine Estate is a premier Winery in the heart of the beautiful Robertson Wine Appellation. A family owned and managed business for three generations, van Loveren produces an impressive array of wine ranges, each to its own purpose emanate from Van Loveren.
The Retief Patriarchs Nico and Wynand
Christiena van Loveren arrived in the Cape in 1699, complete with large Trousseau Trunk which is now on display in the Estate’s Tasting Room. The farm was originally called Goudmyn, the family thought it more appropriate to name it Van Loveren.
The Four Retief Cousins who manage the Estate
The Van Loveren Christiena Trousseau Cap Classique is a blend of the two noble grapes originating from Champagne, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Chardonnay provides great citrus, finesse, and longevity, while the Pinot Noir provides red berry fruits and fullness on the palate.

The final blended base wine has a touch of special yeast and sugar added to it. Called Liqueur de Tirage, this syrup creates the second fermentation creating the brilliant bubbles and yeasty flavour in the final wine. Once the fermentation has taken place, the wine lies on its lees for almost 2 years before being disgorged, the natural cork inserted, and the wire muzzle attached.
