Sun International’s five-star Table Bay Hotel is handing over meals valued at R25 000 to four Cape Town-based community organisations.
The 40 prepacked boxes, representing the equivalent of 8,640 meals, all contain non-perishable foods that were packed by Rise Against Hunger.
“For our 67 minutes on Mandela Day, our staff would typically assist in packing the various food items into boxes. However, in keeping with Covid protocols this year, we elected to work through Rise Against Hunger. They packed all the meals on our behalf. The organisations we made donations to are based in areas where our staff reside,” said Jillian Nel, HR Business Partner at The Table Bay hotel.
The beneficiaries include the early childhood development centre Sikhula Sonke in Khayelitsha, and three non-profit organisations namely Azosule Soup Kitchen, also in Khayelitsha, Humble Beginnings in Mitchell’s Plain and Children have a Dream in Delft.
“All four organisations were ecstatic when told they would receive food parcels, and we are immensely pleased that we have been able to help them during these difficult times,” said Jillian.
