Spier Wine Farm is in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation and lies between the Helderberg and the Polkadraai Hills both well known for producing outstanding wines. The Estate is a dream for tourists and getting involved in all it has to offer will certainly take you a day or more. There is also a luxury Hotel on the Estate should you wish to overnight. Excellent for children too as there is a Bird Sanctuary where you can get up close to owls and a variety of raptors. There are also accompanied Segway rides through the vineyards. Great food is on offer with the sublime wines produced, and a Cellar Door where you can taste the wines The Vadas Smokehouse and Bakery offers wonderful smoked meats and there is a considered focus on ample, delicious vegetarian dishes.

The bakery produces slow-fermented, fresh sourdough breads and a treasure trove of sweet pies such as blueberry and nectarine pie, chocolate cream pie, pecan pie and lemon meringue pie. Don’t forget about Vadas’ now famous Pastéis de Nata; the Portuguese custard tart many say are the best in the world!
