This for me is one of the cookbooks of the year. Launched at The Studio in Kalk Bay this week, Sophia Lindop’s Season’s Bounty is packed with simple easy to prepare, uncomplicated recipes that everyone will be able to use. Sophia is inspired as a cook, she is actually a trained chef, by her mother and her Lebanese and Afrikaans grandmothers.
She places a big focus on vegetables and their seasons and shows you at least four ways with each. Be it marrow or mushrooms, asparagus or tomatoes, apricots or butternuts, they appear in a series of wonderful dishes.
A farm girl by birth, a city girl by marriage, the constants in her life have always been good, wholesome food, wine and company!
And it shows in this book. All the photography is done by Sophia and I love the fact that each recipe has its own photograph and each photograph has the recipe opposite it.
I just love the simplicity and the unpretentiousness of it.
Straight forward, honest expression of Sophia, her cooking style and her food.
