Oldenburg Vineyards Syrah 2017, from The Library Collection, so good with Dianne Bibby’s Bacon wrapped Chicken with Parmesan Cream

Oldenburg Vineyards Syrah 2017

Oldenburg Vineyards is situated in the Banghoek Valley in a cooler part of the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation. Banghoek Valley is surrounded by alpine mountains with Simonsberg on the seaward side and the Groot Drakenstein Mountains to the East. In the centre of the estate is an enchanting little hillock called Rondekop. Containing mainly ferricrete soils, and perfect for vines. The Oldenburg Vineyards Syrah 2017 is part of the Vineyards Series.

Estate Winemaker Nic van Aarde

While this wine was made before his time on the Estate, winemaker Nic van Aarde is making some excellent wines in the Estate’s relatively new winery. With noble varieties planted, and Chenin Blanc, not classified as a noble variety, yet the most planted wine grape in the country, Nic has excellent quality grapes coming into the cellar.

This wine is from the Estate’s Library Collection, so it has had 6 years to lie down and mature there under ideal conditions. It will provide only joy and a well filled glass.
