Nadia Graves is a Cook of note, I love her food. Nadia has South African connections. She and her husband live in Mediterranean France. Her dishes are very French influenced, though she will post Chicken Sosaties or Bobotie when the moment grabs her.
Nadia’s Duck Confit Parmentier is a Shepherd’s Pie that’s been to University, the lusciousness of the Duck covered with the creamiest of mashed potato.
Duck Confit is available in cans or jars in specialist food shops, just as delicious as if you had made them yourself.

This is Boela Gerber’s fine example of what is known as a Cape Blend. A Cape Blend requires a high Pinotage component, anything from 30% to &70%. Boela’s Cape Blend is made up of 34% Pinotage, 33% Shiraz, 32% Merlot, and 1% Grenache. Floricius Beukes, the Estate’s Vineyardist and his team do all the vineyard actions like pruning, canopy management, and harvesting by hand. Handpicked and fermented in stainless steel with regular pump overs during fermentation, the varieties are separately vinified and then aged separately for 12 months in10% new, 35% 2nd fill,35% 3rd fill and 20% 4thfill French oak barrels before blending and preparation for bottling.
From a Bordeaux shaped bottle closed with natural cork. The label is in the French Chateau style with a charming etching on the Manor House. The Lady of Abundance appears on the main gable of the Manor House. In the glass, the wine is a gem bright bloodplum at the heart and pales out to ruby at the edges. Aromas are of plums, red cherries, aniseed and the oak with its concomitant sweet brown spice and vanilla. The palate, from entry has a golden thread of raspberry acidity running through the round and generous well fruited mid palate into the long and gently waning aftertaste with its fine tannins. An impressive glass.
