Rosé continues to raise its profile and is clearly becoming very popular, not only as a summer wine, but a wine which is suited to all seasons and many different foods.
Anthonij Rupert Wines recently released the Jean Roi Cap Provincial Rosé 2016, a Cinsault, Grenache and Shiraz premium blend.
The specially made bottle moves this wine up into another class, with the glass embossed JR on the elegantly shaped bottled with its round label. Really classy packaging, even before you get the cork out.
Whiffs of ripe white fleshed peaches, ripe melon and pale cherry blossom pink with burnished copper flashes. In the glass, the flavours follow on the nose with red berries and dusty plum. This is a serious wine with the three grape types each making its own contribution to the whole.
This is a refreshing glass on its own, mid morning refresher. Just perfect with salads, smoked chicken, smoked fish like angelfish and snoek. Good too with a gentle Kerala Prawn Curry.
As expected from a premium wine, this is a limited release which is available directly from the Anthonij Rupert Wyne online store, directly from the Cellar Door or select specialist wine stores nationwide. The recommended retail price of the Jean Roi Cap Provincial Rosé 2016 is R300 per bottle.
