Impala, cherries, berries & a great glass of Pinot Noir

Braai in progress
Impala Fillets on the Weber Q100

We were fortunate to have some impala fillets to braai over the holidays.

We treated them very simply, just with Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.   Using our new baby, a Weber Q100 gas braai, we braaied them on all four sides.

Cherry Berry Sauce for Game or Pork

After a good fifteen minutes rest, we served them with a sauce which I had made from fresh cherries from Klondyk Farm in Ceres and some fresh raspberries.  Click here for the sauce recipe.

Groote Post Kapokberg Pinot Noir 2012

The perfect wine for this as the newly released Groote Post Kapokberg Pinot Noir – beautiful colour with cherry berry whiffs which are repeated on the palate.  There is an undertow of savoury almost meaty flavour with earthy fresh picked wild mushrooms.  The fruit just sings.  This is a truly great West Coast expression of Pinot Noir.
