Glen Carlou Winemaker Johnnie Calitz
The Glen Carlou Grand Classique 2020 is a fine blend of noble red varieties which have their origins on the French Atlantic Coast in the wine region known as Bordeaux. These noble grapes have literally taken root in many wine producing countries. The Glen Carlou Grand Classique 2020 is one of the few blends produced here using the Big Five. The blend is made up by Winemaker Johnnie Calitz of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc 10% Petit Verdot, and 5% Malbec. The wine is eminently drinkable now and if you have cool storage, you will be rewarded. In a year or two.

The wine has been synonymous with Glen Carlou for decades but over the past 5 being more in the spotlight it is showing in the plethora of awards it continues to garner. The 2018 vintage set the new path with a Mundus Vini Gold award, followed up by the 2020 release achieving the same. The wine scored 91 points on Decanter Magazine and 91 at International Wine and Spirits Competition and a Gold at Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards this year.
