Boschendal Manor House, main reception room for Wine Tastings
I said this before – there is always something new out at Boschendal. Or as Pliny the Elder might have put it, and apparently Aristotle before him, ex Boschendal semper aliquid novi. The Manor House has been so tastefully redecorated, with its history taken into consideration, into different wine tasting areas and is now a truly worthy Brand Home for the fabulous Boschendal Wines. There are 6 different wine tastings for you to have fun with, presented by the knowledgeable Boschendal Wine Ambassadors.
The Historic Wine Tastings
Starting on the Manor House Stoep with its stairs made from Batavian bricks brought over as ballast from the east by the Dutch East India Company Ships, the tasting starts with the Jean le Long bubbly. Jean le Long was the first owner of Boschendal. Once inside, you are presented with four historically significant wines. These are accompanied by a presentation of anecdotes and artefacts which inform of what life was like in the Manor House at the time of its construction, 1812 for Anna Susanna Louw by her husband Paul de Villiers.

The Connoisseur Wine Tastings
Five different limited release wines are presented, each in a different Riedel Glass. Riedels are designed to amplify and deliver to the palate greater aromas, mouthfeel. Riedel Decanters are used to pour the wine. Tastings take place in the exclusive Signature Lounge, a setting which enhances this experience.
Cost R150.00. Duration 1 hour. Mondays to Sundays, at 10h00 to 17h00 on the hour.
The MCC and Canapé Pairing Wine Tastings
Boschendal was an early pioneer, as the second producer of MCC in the Cape Winelands. The Estate takes great pride in its selection of wines in this range, made by Lizelle Gerber. The tasting takes place with four fabulous canapés in the Signature Lounge.

Angus Beef & Shiraz Pairing Wine Tastings
Boschendal is renowned for its pasture reared Angus Beef. Four beef canapés are served, with four vintages of the Estate’s renowned Shiraz wines and Shiraz-led blends.
Cost R250.00. Duration 1 hour. Wednesday to Sunday11h00 to 15h00 on the hour.
Oysters are arguably the best accompaniment for a fine sparkler. Four oysters are served during this tasting with the renowned Boschendal Méthode Cap Classiques.
Cost R20.00. Duration 1 hour. Monday to Sunday 10h00 to 17h00 on the hour.
Flagship Wine Tastings
Here is your chance to taste a range of five of the Boschendal Flagship Wines of your choosing. From the De Werf, Elgin, Vin de Memoire, Vin d’Or, MCC or the 10-year-old Boschendal Pot Still Brandy.
R120 Duration 40 minutes. Monday to Sunday 10h00 and 17h00 on the hour.
When you go, do take your large shopping bag with you to buy some of the fabulous bakes, fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits from The Werf Garden behind The Werf Restaurant. And a couple of bottles of wine!
