Adi Badenhorst is different in almost every respect from other winemakers, which makes him just so refreshing. Impish, puckish, talented, passionate, amusing, downright funny, family man, no averse to looking at things in different ways.
His wines are so so exciting, particularly this one which draws you in with its colour and aromas and then socks you with the most intense fruited palates. A truly beguiling wine.
Grenache Noir freshly harvested
The grapes come from a single vineyard planted in 1952 on decomposed granite soils. They say this is the oldest Grenache vineyard in South Africa and its 12 long rows can be found on Kalmoesfontein farm. 500L vats for 12 months. This wine was racked just before bottling without any filtration.
