So often the unseen people do some truly important work. I would like to introduce you to The Oldenburg Winery Office Manager – Ntombekaya Dishi. Better known as Ntosh, if you have ever called the office, you have probably spoken to her. Ntosh helps keep the office running on a number of fronts, from admin and accounts, to dealing with suppliers. She also assists Financial Manager, Riza, to help her keep the company’s financial affairs in order.
Ntosh is from a small town in the Eastern Cape called Idutywa. She moved to Cape Town in 2002, and matriculated here in 2003. After school, she enrolled for a Public Management Diploma at Northlink College.
While she was studying, she worked at Moyo restaurant, and this is where she fell in love with the hospitality and wine industries. She also worked at a centre supporting children with disabilities, before she made her way to Oldenburg Vineyards to take up the role as office manager, in November 2016. Her favourite part of the job is working with numbers – and judging by the number of invoices she deals with daily, she has plenty of numbers to work with!
Married in 2007, she has three children (20 years, 15 years and 9 years old).
If she hadn’t found her way into managing an office on a wine farm, she would have liked to either become a social worker or perhaps a psychologist. When she isn’t keeping the office in order, she loves to spend time at home. She is very devout, and spends much of her time reading the Bible and going to church. She does not enjoy watching television, but loves music (especially R&B), and she loves cooking.
When asked if there was something she wanted to share with our readers, she thoughtfully said how much she has learned about her colleagues’ different cultures and backgrounds during her time at Oldenburg, and also realized how hers (Xhosa) was often so different. Thank you for keeping the office running smoothly, Ntosh!
