The Finalists on The Ultimate Braai Master – The strongest steel has to go through the hottest fire

Season 8 of The Ultimate Braai Master is drawing to a thrilling close. Ten teams from across the country, started this epic journey across the South Western tip of the African continent, to battle it out in the toughest outdoor cooking challenge in the world.

KZN’s hopes of winning their first UBM, have been dashed with La Fusion Chefs, Njabula Zuma and Richard Ndlazi losing their final challenge, after struggling to ignite their fire with flint.

After an emotional farewell to ‘big Zulu’, the final four are preparing themselves for the remaining challenges, which are set to be tough enough to ensure that the winning team is worthy of the title of The Ultimate Braai Master.

Naledi Matshitse & Malebogo Diraditsile, known as the Village Cooks, and friends for 30-years, redeemed themselves in the elimination round, securing their spot and proudly representing Pretoria in the final four. Having grown up together in a village in the North West, Malebogo dedicates his UBM journey to his eldest sister. Naledi’s greatest influencers in her life are both her paternal and maternal grandmothers, who taught her that as a girl child, or a woman, you don’t necessarily just have to sit back.

Also representing Pretoria are the Braai Bokke, Marnes van der Westhuyzen (Braai Bok) and Jean Coetzee (Dance Bok), are proving that they are a force to be reckoned with, after impressing the judges and “shining at the right time.”

From Gauteng, the Cajun Chefs Tebogo ‘Friendly’ Malele and Macdonald Sathikge went from being told men don’t belong in the kitchen, to earning the Golden Tongs. They believe “Now is the time. We’ve burned, we’ve cried, we’ve bled for this thing. This is ours.”

Proudly representing Joburg, the Bird Tanners have shown impressive resilience by surviving all the Crew Ingwe eliminations. Landscaper Matt Van Haght wants to set a good example for his new-born daughter, and security company owner Emile Eblen draws inspiration from his Lebanese and Portuguese family combination. It’s all about family; “a little game plan” up their sleeves, appear to be working as they secure their place in the final four.

The last remaining contestants have undergone gruelling challenges and have been stretched to their emotional and mental limits.

Only one team can walk away with the winning title of The Ultimate Braai Master S8. Tune in to watch the final showdown, Sundays at 5pm on E.tv
