One thing about Franck Dangereux, one of my most favourite Cape Chefs, is his passion.
Passion for life, passion for his family and his passion for creating the most outstanding food.
And one thing he’s really passionate about is his business in partnership with ‘my buddy’ the equally passionate Peter de Bruin – The Foodbarn – in a Cape Dutch style barn in Noordhoek Farm Village.
Pee runs the bakery a short walk away with its own deli and coffee shop. They’re baking croissants – who better than a Frenchman to bake your croissants? – and vienoisserie, cakes and biscuits hot from the oven will be rolled out into the shop for you to buy fresh from the oven.
Breakfasts, lunches and teas are served from 08h00 in the morning to 17h00 in the afternoon. Great sandwiches too. They serve dinners as well and Franck does mid week cookery dems where he shows the dishes you are served for lunch.
The Noordhoek locals and faithful food lovers from the previous 14 years, continue to patronize him and the organic producers are bringing in their fruit and vegetables, creating a destination for organic produce. Duncan Savage has produced three fabulous Cape Point Vineyards Wines exclusively for The Foodbarn – Dangerous White, Dangerous Rosé and Dangerous Red. Wines are available there for tasting and on sale as well.
Franck serves the food of his soul, and that’s where we want our tastes to come from. He is very excited about his team, some of whom have worked with him for years. Lilian, meeting you on arrival, makes one feel you are the most important person who has just stepped through the door – enough of a reason in itself to return many times.
Great things continue to thrill and delight us at this fabulous food emporium in Noordhoek.
