I was fortunate to be a judge in Showcook’s annual Reaching for the Young Stars Competition at the One & Only Hotel on Cape Town’s Waterfront earlier this week.
Three teams of Chefs from Silwood Kitchen, Bonani Lester and Kirby Auret, S A Chef’s Academy, Thembalani Gunya and Lungisile Sinxo and the Cape Town Hotel School, Grant Glasser and Sacha Franz prepared the food. Three Head Waiters and Three Sommeliers served the Allée Bleue Wines – Allée Bleue are co-sponsors of the competition and the dishes to the judges. Main courses were all a pork dish as the South African Pork Producers Association are co-sponsors of the competition.
The winners will be announced next week at a One & Only Hotel function, to be addressed by the Minister of Tourism, Mr Marthinus van Schalkwyk.
