I was happy to introduce the Paul Wallace Crackerjack 2016 at a ZA Confidential Podcast recording recently. A fine red blend in the style of the Bordeaux left bank, Merlot led, with 50% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Malbec.
Paul & Nicky Wallace farm in cool Elgin, cool in terms of climate and current wine fashion. The Elgin Wine Appellation is a high-lying basin surrounded by mountain ranges, quite affected by the southern Atlantic Ocean. So, a unique microclimate.
The podcast is presented by well known broadcaster and journalist John Fraser. Our tasters are the brand guru Jeremy Sampson, Financial Writer and Analyst Chris Gilmour and Clientele’s IT Director, Malcolm MacDonald.
There was also a chat about the recent Old Mutual Trophy Winner wine show, and the usefulness of such events in educating your palate.
