Giving back Childhood
I must declare an interest here – I am in this book. Christine Stevens asked me to write a story and give a recipe for a fundraising book for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital to celebrate the hospital’s 60th birthday this year.
I was happy to provide a childhood memory of our family traditions about the making of our Christmas puddings. My memories certainly go back to the early 1950’s.
Little did I realise that I would be included in a list of real luminaries in so many parts of South African life. I am humbled and I hope when you buy this book, you will enjoy my story and perhaps some of the other entries will bring back some of your own childhood memories.
Giving Back Childhood has been published as a fund raiser for the hospital which treats children from all over South Africa and does such brilliant work.
With a foreword by Prince Harry of Wales, the book is a treasure trove of South African culture and food.
Excellent Christmas stocking stuffer.
