The Cederberg Wines mantra is Wines with Altitude, not surprising therefore that the vineyards are the highest in the Cape. Lying in its own dry little bowl, the estate is separated from other vineyards by great distances, so, far away from the more typical of vine diseases.
The first wine grape vines were planted on the Estate in 1973 and as the cliché goes, the rest is history. David and Ciska Niewoudt and their daughter Emma are the current owners of Cederberg. David is a fifth generation Niewoudt to own the Estate.
