Neethlingshof is a jewel in the Wine Crown of Stellenbosch. a beautiful farm on the Polkadraai Hills facing the Helderberg to the East. Neethlingshof is surrounded by top notch wine estates which proves something about the aspects, the different heights and unusual soil types. A geologist once told me that there is a lot of decomposed granite from the same thread of soil that goes back to the Paarl Mountain. The other soils are Villafonté, Tukulu and Oakleaf. Another important factor is the cooling effect of breezes off False Bay which ameliorate Summer heat in the vineyards.
The farm buildings are beautfully maintained, a beautiful Manor House and out houses, all of which have their unique uses. The Manor House contains a restaurant, there is an art gallery in one of the outbuildings, the tasting room and the wine garden. Do visit their website to see all the exciting offerings. If you are in Stellenbosch, don’t pass this fine place by.
