Maddy and I had the pleasure of visiting Voyager Estate first in 1996 to consult for the owner Michael Wright who particularly wanted a piece of Cape Dutch architecture on the Estate. Voyager produces a range of premium wines made by Australian Winemaker of the Year, Cliff Royle. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon & Chenin Blanc are the whites, while Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot are the red varieties.
The gardens, landscaped by Deon Bronkhorst, Voyager’s fly-in landscape architect are a real feature especially the fabulous collection of roses. The Restaurant and Gift Shop with its Cape interior was designed by Jay Smith, a leading Cape Towns Interior Designers. I presented a Cape Malay Buffet for the Margaret River Wine Festival and some of the Cape dishes have found their way onto the menu. Don’t miss out on a visit if you are traveling through Perth at any time.
