It’s here – an exciting, new drink for summer! And it’s just perfect if you’re looking for a delicious everyday drink with virtually no alcohol and lower in kilojoules. Made by Van Loveren, Almost Zero is made from Sauvignon Blanc wine with alcohol removed.
Almost Zero is crisp and tasty, with less than 0.5% alcohol – the same as the alcohol-free beers on the market. Better yet, it has 75% less kilojoules than a normal glass of wine. Now, you can enjoy a glass of vino, literally to your heart’s content and without the worry. Almost Zero is definitely the healthier summer option.
The new, refreshing lower-kilojoule drink joins an extensive portfolio shaped over decades by Van Loveren Family Vineyards, South Africa’s leading family-owned wine farm. Situated on the banks of the Kogmanskloof River in the Robertson Valley, Van Loveren is known for a range of excellent and innovative wines and its welcoming, family-friendly wine farm experience.
From a light green Bordeaux shaped bottle, closed with a screw cap. Fun label, telling you exactly what it is. In the glass, a delicate pale straw. The aromas are enticing, soft Golden Delicious apple, litchi and sweet tropical limes in undertow. The palate is also soft and delicate, with green flavours of herbs, more mouthfeel than I was expecting, I liked it. Good aftertaste too.
The wine is perfect as a refresher, mid-morning or in the evening as the sun goes down after a lovely summery day. Classical summery salads are perfect partners as it Nina Timm’s Smoked Mackerel Salad with Summer Fruit. Click here for her recipe.
