The Pot Luck Club

Luke Dale Roberts was not chosen as one of South Africa’s top chefs on a whim.  He is a leading cutting edge chef, who is so modest about his achievements.  I have been fortunate to dine on several occasions at The Test Kitchen and The Pot Luck Club in its former home next to the Test Kitchen.  Whether it has been an eleven course meal matching some exciting wines from Eben Sadie and Adi Badenhorst, or whether a celebration of Real British Food with Christ Trott the British Consul General in Cape Town or a quiet dinner for two with my wife, each and every time it is a truly Lucullan food experience.  And more often than not, when taken with Luke’s wine suggestions, you get the double whammy – brilliant food and the perfect wine with which to accompany it.

If you really want a great food experience, drink some truly great wines, go along to The Pot Luck Club at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock.  Do one better, go for lunch and enjoy the view of this Fairest Cape in all the world.  Even a visit to the loo is an experience.

Dont mess about – just go!  I did it yesterday with a friend. And would go again tomorrow.  The service from Dylan Rhys-Jones, an enchanting tousle-haired young man, was exactly what I would have expected, professional and friendly and we knew he had our interests at heart.
