If you love Shiraz you won’t want to miss The Magic of Syrah, a special and exclusive Syrah Masterclass and tasting in which wines from South Africa will be tasted against those from New Zealand, Australia and the Rhône Valley.
The Syrah Masterclass Wines to be tasted include Cote Rôtie (France); John Duval (Australia); Man O’War (New Zealand) and from South Africa the De Grendel Elim (Durbanville Wine Valley); Strandveld; Waterkloof; Rustenberg; Cederberg; Eagles Nest; Boschkloof and Boekenhoutskloof.
Presented by the Institute of Cape Wine Masters and supported by the Cape Wine Academy, it takes place at Gerakaris Family Wines in Craighall Park on Wednesday, November 7, at 18h00.
The masterclass will be presented by Dr Andy Roediger, chairperson of the tasting panel of Shiraz SA Challenge, and a panel of experts who will be discussing where South African shiraz stands in a global context.
Says Roediger: “I am passionate about syrah – did you know that the world translates to ‘princess’ in Arabic? I look forward to putting some of South Africa’s finest shirazes against some of their global counterparts.”
Gerakaris Family Wines is situated at 20 Marlborough Avenue, Craighall. Tickets for The Magic of Syrah are R450 a person and are available from Cape Wine Master Raymond Noppe on firstname.lastname@example.org
