De Krans Pinotage Rosé 2018…

Valentine’s Day (and the month of love) goes hand in hand with everything pink, and what better time to enjoy De Krans’ range of pink wines, namely the Cape Pink (a lighter port style wine) and Pinotage Rosé 2018.

The De Krans Cape Pink port – style wine, with a slight blush colour, is perfect for sharing with that someone special in your life. Made from traditional Portuguese grape varieties, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca and Tinta Amarela, this more delicate port-style wine, displays rich ripe flavours of fresh red berries and a long lingering aftertaste, and is best enjoyed chilled with crush ice, on its own.

De Krans The Original Cape Pink

Here are two De Krans favourite cocktails, guaranteed to be an ice breaker for that perfect Valentine’s dinner.

Ginger Up
Add De Krans Cape Pink to a highball glass filled with crushed ice, a shot of Gin, a dash of bitters and top up with ginger beer. The perfect thirst quencher for Summer!

Pink Sunset
Pour De Krans Cape Pink and chilled iced tea in equal amounts into a tall glass. Add sliced strawberries and crushed ice or ice cubes – a great sunset punch!

Very popular with the French, largest consumers of Portuguese Port, is a port and tonic.

De Krans Winemaker Louis van der Riet

Winemaker Louis van der Riet describes the De Krans Pinotage Rosé 2018 as packed with red fruit flavour and a balanced acidity, resulting in a burst of freshness.  A beautiful light watermelon pink colour, it will no doubt charm the heart (and palate) of that someone special. The dry Pinotage Rosé pairs perfectly with a fresh Summer salad, lightly grilled fish or pasta dishes. Not only a favourite amongst consumers but also recognised by its wine peers, this vintage recently won a Double Gold medal at the 2018 Rosé Rocks Competition.

De Krans, The Original Espresso

Another De Krans wine I have really enjoyed recently is The Original Espresso nv. A fortified wine made from Portuguese Port varieties. Once blended, the deep bloodplum red wines are placed in a tank with heavily toasted oak blocks which give it the lovely chocolate Café Latte aromas and flavours. The fruit is present as plums and there are background whiffs of that delicious British confectionery Parma Violets. Soft well integrated tannins.
