Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2016
Blush wines have gently manoeuvred themselves into the limelight with the Rosés and Blanc de Noirs and are standing front of stage. Elegant, with noble Chardonnay and Pinot Noir used in the making, and made with the delicate touch used for seriously made Mèthode Cap Classiques. They are usually dry, wines of finesse and this one is bottled in the most elegant of livery.
Lizelle tasting wine from barrels
Lizelle Gerber who is Boschendal’s White Wine and Cap Classique maker, has produced a real Jewel in the Crown with the Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2016. Using two of the noble Champagne grapes, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, she has made a wine so perfect for summer and the festive season up ahead.
20% of the Chardonnay is fermented in barrels and left on the lees to build mid palate creaminess. The Pinot Noir also spent time in French oak barrels.
This wine will certainly appeal to rosé and blanc de noir aficionados and the young consumer, the trend setting drinker, will use it as an entry into wine.
Boschendal Manor House & the Werf
It looks like
Beautiful, but beautiful bottle with elegant livery. Would be comfortable in the garden of The Great Gatsby or on the French Riviera, on the patios in Johannesburg and other cities in our country. In the glass, what the Californians call Partridge Eye, a gentle pink blush.
It smells like
Red berries, bright citrus fruit inviting you to take a sip.
It tastes like
Easy entry, palate filling with a long and gently waning aftertaste. Smooth and creamy on the palate, spicy and ripe white fleshed peaches and pears and a delicate strawberry spoon jam.
Tracy Foulkes’s freshly caught trout ceviche
It’s good with
Excellent as a refresher and perfect with food. Crisp fresh summery salads, crisp poached prawns with a seafood mayonnaise. Tracy Foulkes of NOMU Foods is a real food trouper, her food is modern, full of flavour and her Freshly caught trout ceviche is made for this wine. Click here for her recipe.
