I had the pleasure of presenting this virtually unique Cape Wine to John Fraser, who owns ZA Confidential, to Cova Advisory’s Duane Newman, Economist and investor Chris Hart and Clientele’s Malcolm Macdonald.
The Avondale Qvevri Grenache, Syrah & Mourvèdre 2018 is made in Qvevri, traditionally used in Georgian wine making for more than 8000 years. A Qvevri is an tear drop shaped rough terra cotta container, usually buried point down in stones the floor of a cellar.
The ZA Confidential panel also discusses the joy of experimenting with new varieties of grape and the need for restaurants to be more imaginative and informative with their wine lists.
