Some bubbles in our fridge for regular drinking.  I have always been an advocate of not saving your bubbles for a special occasion and to treat the wine to the food you want to serve with it.

Weltevrede Philip Jonker Brut Entheos Brut MCC

Philip Jonker makes a pearler of a Chardonnay Pinot Noir blend for his Entheos.  The grapes 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, picked at a slightly later stage so showing rich fruit in youth. Three years lees maturation.

Pour
Brilliant, gem bright pale straw in colour with masses of the tiniest bubbles rushing to the surface. Lemon creams, fresh baked brioche flavours and a long aftertaste.

Pair
Delicious as a mid morning refresher.  Always goes well with oysters.  Brilliant with sushi and summery salads with chicken or smoked fish.

Paul René MCC Brut Rosé

A triumph in packaging. If you are going to be introduced to a wine, this is the way it should be done. Classic Champagne grapes the Pinot Noir makes up 75% of the blend and Chardonnay the remainder. 24 months on the lees before being degorged.

Pour
Delicate pink, more salmon than cherry blossom. Bubbles running helter skelter to the top of the glass. Lovely refreshing red fruits with an undertow of white flowers, generous flavours. Silken palate.

Pair
Great glass – don’t keep it for a special occasion. Serve it with a midweek chicken burger if you like.  But of course it is great with the good stuff like oyster, smoked fish and chicken.

Bottega Il Vino dell’amore Petalo Pink Manzoni Moscato Rosé

This is a great wow factor bottle. I am unashamed about my love for Muscat grapes and wines. The grape is a cross between Raboso and Moscato.  The grapes are grown in Treviso, in the Prosecco wine area, famous for its great wine tradition. 24 hour maceration of the skins in the juice adds the pretty pink. Low alcohol and deliciously grape sweet.

Pour
Packed in a bright pink painted bottle on which there is a rose in full bloom, which evokes the wonderful aromas of the wine.  Gem bright with long lasting bubbles. Fresh, aromatic and delicate. Sweet of flavour, rose water Turkish delight and some fynbos herbaceousness.

Pair
This is the perfect wine to go with Eton Mess, or a crème brulée flavoured with rose water.  Strawberry or raspberry sorbet also a refreshing choice.
