La Petite Ferme Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2016

The La Petite Ferme Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2016 is made up of 50% grapes from their own Franschhoek Vineyards and the balance from deep down south in the Elim Appellation. Matured in French oak barrels 1st, 2nd and 3rd fill for 7 months with fortnightly batonnage for 3 months.

Pour
Roasted almond butter and sweet tropical citrus on the nose. Fresh entry with notes of Granny Smith and desiccated pineapple. Full and balanced and layered palate.

Pair
Crispy crackling pork belly or duck, with roasted apple sauce. Goat’s Cheese Bruschetta. Smoked Trout and cream cheese on toasted sourdough with a squirt of lime.

Dragonridge Pinotage 2015

Pour
Big, big, big. Dark ruby vermillion at the core which pales out to a purple garnet at the rim.  Prominent red berries on the nose from the Pinot Noir parent which appear on the palate nice and ripe with an undertow of mocha and dark chocolate. Firm tannins in the long aftertaste

Pair
Something big on flavour. Oxtail.  Lamb Bredie. We had an eland sirloin on the braai recently, this was a great match.  In vegetarian food, you want something with big flavours of mushrooms, aubergines, reduced tomatoes, or perhaps a nut roast with a good gravy.
