Roger Jones returns to The Vineyard Hotel for two dinners in January.  At the young age of 21, Roger was the youngest of the Queen’s head chefs to run State banquets at Buckingham Palace. He would later take over and transform The Harrow at Little Bedwyn into a country restaurant that has achieved a Michelin-star every year since 2006. He has won several other awards. Roger is also a respected wine writer and judge.

A few years ago, this regular visitor to the Vineyard Hotel agreed to share his passion and knowledge with other Vineyard patrons by collaborating with Executive Chef Carl van Rooyen on a few highly anticipated wine-paired dinners.

Roger Jones will again be preparing and hosting exclusive wine-paired dinners at the Vineyard Hotel early in 2017.

On 10 January 2017, he will prepare a menu of five courses which he will pair with the finest MCC sparkling wines from South Africa, England and Wales. Only 30 diners will be accommodated at the Upper Deck, an exclusive new venue at The Vineyard Hotel.

The Square, Venue for the Tri Nations of Wine

Also, don’t miss the highly anticipated Cape Town leg of the 2017 Tri-Nations of Wine. On 13 January 2017, 80 guests will sit down at The Vineyard Hotel to adjudicate the Cape Town leg of the Tri-Nations of Wine. Six courses prepared by Roger Jones will be paired with top unidentified wines, from South Africa and Australia. Diners will choose their favourite, and the results announced at the end of the evening.

The other venues for the championship are Roger’s restaurant, The Harrow at Little Bedwyn in the English countryside, and Hawke’s Bay in New Zealand.

The Vineyard Swimming Pool with the Splash Café on the left

Charcuterie Platter at The Splash Cafe

Lick-your-lips lunch options, served from 12h00 to 16h30, include pesto pasta with feta, artichokes and roasted peppers, grilled line fish, grass-fed dry-aged beef hamburger, 6-inch beef hot dogs with caramelised onion, pickles and mustard, and a selection of salads. Sundowner dinners are available from 17h00 to 22h00 and include charcuterie and cheese platters, a selection of burgers (beef, lamb, chicken or vegetarian) with various toppings, and summer desserts (pear tart Tatin with Tonka bean ice cream, chocolate espresso mousse made with Vineyard blend coffee, and homemade sorbets and ice creams). The programme for the Tastes of 2017 wine paired dinners and Festivals have been announced, so do diarise these.  On 12th March, the annual Festival of Bubbles, this is followed on 9th April by the Pinot Noir Festival.
