Nederburg Wines

My life is made up of a series of Nederburg footprints. My first recollections are Nederburg wines in the 1960s – the ‘cutglass’ Nederburg Rosé bottles with condensation running down the bottles on tables under trees on the lawn in front of our farmhouse when my parents entertained on Sundays. Later as a young man, I got to know Ilse Graue – widow of Johann Graue who owned Nederburg from 1937 until the family sold it to Stellenbosch Farmer’s Winery - who had a house in Hermanus behind the Riviera Hotel where I worked as an apprentice to a wonderful old Swiss Chef always
Nederburg, 2011 Winery of the Year

Razvan Macici says "Nederburg is South Africa’s most awarded winery but the Platter accolades largely eluded us until a few years ago. I cannot even begin to describe to you what this achievement represents to us: our viticulturists, our farm management and those of us in the cellar. The Platter guide enjoys enormous respect locally and internationally, and for many is the first and sometimes only reference in identifying noteworthy wines."
In the 2010 edition of the guide, Nederburg earned two five-star ratings. These went to the 2008 vintage of the Winemaster’s Reserve Noble Late Harvest and the Ingenuity White.
