A weekend of cooking in Prince Albert

The Demonstration Kitchen at African Relish Maddy and I are returning to African Relish in Prince Albert for a cooking weekend from Friday March 23rd to Sunday March 25th. I will be cooking some of my favourite dishes, Jeremy will be joining me and cooking some of his in a kind of 'Manne met die Panne' weekend. Accolade for Wellington Distillery

The James Sedgwick Distillery, situated at the foothills of the Bain’s Kloof Pass in the Boland town of Wellington, has been named Best Brand Innovator in Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky competition. The award is in recognition of the state-of-the-art facilities at the distillery as well as the innovative whiskies produced there. Austerity Fishcakes Made on 2nd January with a 425g tin of Lucky Star Middlecut I was given at the launch of Lannice Snymans book Out of the Can and inspired by her Pilchard Fishcakes Recipe. 1 x 425g tin of Lucky Star Middlecut 2 medium potatoes, peeled, cut into cubes and boiled 1 medium onion, finely chopped 1 Tbs sunflower oil 2 Tbs finely chopped parsley grated rind of 1 lemon 2 eggs, whisked sea salt and freshly milled black pepper Method:  Drain the fish and remove the skin. The choice to leave the bones in is yours, they are quite soft and edible.  Mash the fish with
