The House of J.C. Le Roux in Stellenbosch, South Africa’s first cellar dedicated entirely to the craft of making sparkling and MCC wines recently launched a sister wine to their La Vallée, the first off dry MCC to be produced in the Cape.
La Vallée Rosé with just the faintest touch of sweetness is made from mostly Pinot Noir
I loved the lazy tiny bubbles rising to the surface and the classical red fruit flavours of the Pinot Noir component.
It’s the sort of wine which would appeal equally to those who like dry and to those who prefer sweet.
It’s a food wine, but perhaps mainly at the back end of the menu where you might find some strawberries and shortbread, a crackly topped berry brulée. But I do believe it would go well with a far eastern dish like a delicate vegetable curry or crisp prawns in a batter and a Thai dipping sauce.
Elegant price too at about R60 bucks a pop.
