Clare Bock

Clare Bock co-founded and ran one of Gauteng’s premier catering companies, Chefettes, from January 1990 to December 2005. During this time, her list of clients contained some of the biggest names in the world, including Richard Branson, Prince Charles, Lance Armstrong and Christina Aguilera. She also catered for some of South Africa’s most prestigious blue chip companies and she has featured in a number of magazines and newspapers. Since October 2006, Clare has been at the helm of Appetite in Cape Town, where she specialises in up market catering, menu planning and recipe creation for restaurants and café bars. Some of the occasions for which Appetite creates food include celebrations, corporate functions, the movie industry and family occasions, picnics and portable food.

We’ve eaten some excellent food from Clare – her curries are of just the right heat, she does a fabulous creamy chicken and coconut milk one and a gentle Massaman Beef. Delicious pepper fillet, a colourful one-of-the-best-we’ve-tasted terrines with cranberries, served with Clare’s paper thin and crisp pistachio biscotti have also been our delight over recent weeks.
